Herman Miller

Working with tvsdesign and IA | Interior Architects, Propp+Guerin was chartered with branding the environments of Herman Miller showrooms and offices in numerous cities across the country, while expressing the company’s overall design values (Durability, Unity, Integrity and Inevitability) created by their founder, DJ DePree.

To communicate their rich history, the patterns and imagery created by Alexander Girard for over a quarter century as design director for Herman Miller’s textile division, was repurposed in many sizes, shapes and colors, and reproduced in the playful Girard style through the use of various materials across environmental signage and wall coverings.

In addition, the work of Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson and numerous other designers who have contributed to the success of Herman Miller, were featured graphically and prominently throughout the environments.

Stainless steel sculptures standing 8' tall, are a re-interpretation of Girards' whimsically adorable “Daisy Face” textile image and were designed to welcome visitors to the world of Herman Miler.

Various informational experiences were created using large-format wall graphics and included everything from historical timelines, to walls illustrating their environmental commitment and accomplishments.
